Those of you that have been a follower of my work for a while may have noticed my new logo. And you may be asking, “Why does a photographer even need a logo?” Or perhaps, “Why a flower? You’re not a flower shop, Hayley” Well, it just so happens that I would love to explain.

See, my graphic design background has trained me to have an explanation for every decision made in the design world. First off, let’s revisit my tagline again, “Life’s greatest gifts, captured.” I don’t know about you but when I think of life, I think of beauty, uniqueness, growth, and change, among many other things. Which then leads my mind to nature. Nature is the most beautiful gift that God has provided the world. He is the true artist.

A flower encompasses all of those things I believe LIFE is comprised of. I wanted a symbol to represent not only my business, but also myself. Every day I am surrounded by beauty, my camera is just one way I try to capture it. I like to think that my style is unique, as is my relationship with each client, as well as each experience I have with those clients. As a person and as a photographer my hope is to continue to grow each day and develop. And what is life without some form of change? Each day my life continues to change, every year God surprises me with a new plan for my life. So just as the seasons change, I too much change with the ebb and flow of my business and personal life.

One of my personal favorite artists is Georgia O’Keeffe who is famous for her flower paintings (if you don’t know her – look her up!). People made many (some-what naughty) assumptions about her work, but when asked directly, she simply stated: “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. So I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty.” This is what life symbolizes to me, something so beautiful and to be treasured, but also fleeting, so every moment is a chance to stop and really enjoy it. Photography provides a tool to soak in those moments and always have them to remember. I hope photographs, just like O’Keeffe’s paintings, serve as a reminder to treasure the little, yet important things in life that add up to be such BIG things.
